Amanda E. Williams, M.D., F.A.P.A.
Dr. Williams received her bachelor's degree in Integrated Life Sciences from Kent State University and her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University - NEOMED (formerly NEOUCOM). She trained in adult psychiatry at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University, where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Williams entered private practice in general adult psychiatry in 2002, with a focus on providing cognitive-behavioral and supportive psychotherapy in combination with medication management. Previously she served as Director of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry for Akron General Medical Center where she managed various psychiatric conditions in the context of acute and chronic medical issues.
Before relocating to Atlanta in 2009, Dr. Williams served for several years as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry for NEOUCOM, directing the Psychiatry Resident Clinic while maintaining her private practice.
Dr. Williams is experienced in the treatment of a variety of psychiatric conditions including mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, adjustment reactions, psychotic disorders, and the care of psychiatric conditions in those with mental retardation/developmental disabilities.
In addition to providing individual psychotherapy combined with medication management, Dr. Williams offers coordinated medication management for patients who see another provider for therapy. Dr. Williams is certified in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy by the Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy and is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
